Things to do in Visit Dayton – Dayton Convention & Visitors Bureau

Sport participants and spectators will find there is a TON to do each DAY in DAYTON ! Known as “the Birthplace of Aviation” Dayton was home to first flyers Wilbur and Orville Wright. Visitors can explore the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park sites, the Wright Brothers National Museum (which has more Wright brothers artifacts than anywhere else in the world), Hawthorn Hill the Wright family mansion, the Free world-renowned National Museum of the U.S. Air Force which offers 19 acres of indoor exhibits featuring over 350+ aerospace vehicles including a NASA Space Shuttle exhibit and nine Presidential planes (4 you can board and tour) and the co-located Free National Aviation Hall of Fame. Have fun exploring Dayton’s amazing aviation sites and earn your own “Wilbear Wright Aviator Teddy Bear” by having an Aviation Trail passport stamped at just 8 of 17 area aviation locations.

Dayton also is home to the nation’s largest network of paved trails (350+ miles!) for hiking and biking, and offers bike rental and bike-share programs. Kayak, surf and SUP in the white-water features of the Great Miami River and Mad Rivers in downtown Dayton. Five Rivers MetroParks’ offer outdoor adventure and programs in more than 20 area parks.

Explore Carillon Historical Park’s 65-acre complex with over 30 buildings telling the innovative and industrial history of Dayton’s many inventions that changed the world. The beautiful Italian-Renaissance styled Dayton Art Institute is recognized as one of the best mid-sized art museums in the country, and The Citizens Motorcar Company/America’s Packard Museum will drive car lovers crazy! Catch a Dayton Dragons baseball game (High-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds), or explore a 200-acre working farm and nature sanctuary at Aullwood Audubon. Have a blast with arcade games, go-karts, a roller-coaster, laser tag, mini-golf and more at the enormous indoor family fun center, Scene75.

Dayton is also within a 40-minute drive of Kings Island 364-acre Amusement Park, and the 35-acre Beach Waterpark.

Adults will enjoy the nearly 30 breweries on the Dayton Ale Trail and the exciting action at Hollywood Gaming and Dayton Raceway.
